A Downey patient story
EM, 58, came in after a failed implant attempt at a corporate chain
EM lives off Imperial Hwy in north Downey. She came to us in early 2026 after a corporate implant chain in West LA placed two upper implants that never integrated. The chain had quoted a flat $40,000 for an All-on-X and pushed her to finance immediately. After both implants failed at the 90-day check, the chain told her she was a poor candidate and would need to wear an upper denture.
EM's 3D CBCT scan at our office told a different story. The chain had drilled into the maxillary sinus on both sites and the failures were placement errors, not biological rejection. Dr. Qiu mapped the case for 90 minutes, drew up a revision plan with a lateral-window sinus lift on the right, autograft on the left, and four Vampire Protocol implants over the following 6 months. The total revision cost was $20,000 (already accounting for the failed chain work), of which $8,000 was financed at 0% APR.
Six months later EM was eating her first full meal on the finished upper arch. The 12-month follow-up CBCT showed all four implants fully integrated with stable peri-implant bone. EM still drives the same 7 minutes from Imperial and Lakewood to our office for her twice-yearly hygiene visits.

Our office sits at 8500 Florence Ave, Suite 100, two blocks west of Lakewood Blvd and one mile north of Downey Promenade. The whole city is reachable in under 10 minutes regardless of your neighborhood.
From North Downey (north of Imperial Hwy, near Rio Hondo and Apollo Park): Lakewood Blvd south past Imperial, right on Florence. About 7 minutes in light traffic, 12 minutes at peak.
From Downey Civic Center area (Brookshire and 8th Street): Brookshire Ave south to Florence, left. Roughly 4 minutes, often less.
From South Downey (Stonewood Center, Old River School Rd): Lakewood Blvd north past Firestone, left on Florence. 5 to 8 minutes.
From the 5 freeway (commuting back from downtown LA): exit Florence Ave westbound, the office is on the right side of the street between Brookshire and Paramount Blvd. About 18 minutes from downtown LA at non-peak.

Stonewood Center (the original Downey mall, southwest of the Promenade) is a longstanding Downey institution opened in 1953. Several of our older patients have been Stonewood shoppers for decades. Downey Civic Center and Library(three blocks east of our office on Brookshire Ave) hosts the city's main civic and cultural events. The Downey Symphony performs at the Civic Theatre. Furman Park(north of the office, off Florence Ave) is a 27-acre community park with the city's main aquatic center.
