A Lynwood patient story
R.M., 61, a St. Francis Medical Center CNA who had avoided dentists for eight years
R.M. lives on Palm Avenue in Lynwood, about two miles from St. Francis Medical Center where she has worked as a certified nursing assistant for eleven years. She came to us in the fall of 2025 after her upper back molars had been missing for nearly a decade. A prior dentist had quoted her $6,500 per tooth with no financing option. On a CNA salary, that number had felt permanent. Her spoken English is conversational but she processes medical information more confidently in Spanish, so our bilingual clinical assistant, Marisol, led the first part of the visit entirely in Spanish, then transitioned to English for the portions R.M. preferred that way.
The 3D CBCT scan showed moderate bone loss on the upper left side from years without load, but enough native bone remained on the right to place two implants immediately without grafting. The upper left required a targeted bone graft at the same appointment, with a healing period of four months before implant placement. Dr. Qiu walked R.M. through both scenarios on the scan monitor in the operatory, pointing out the relevant anatomy and explaining in plain language why one side needed more preparation than the other. R.M. later told us that no dentist had ever shown her her own X-ray before.
Total treatment was $9,400 for three implants with monolithic zirconia crowns. R.M. financed $7,000 at 0% APR over 36 months through CareCredit, paying roughly $195 per month. She scheduled every appointment on her days off from St. Francis, taking the 105 to the 710 north to the Florence Ave exit and arriving in about 15 minutes each time. What the drive looks like from Lynwood neighborhoods
Our office is at 8500 Florence Ave, Suite 100, Downey. From Lynwood, the most direct route runs about 15 minutes via the 105 and 710, and there is a surface-street alternative for patients who prefer to stay off the freeway.
Route 1 via the 105 and 710 (recommended): From Long Beach Blvd or Atlantic Ave in central Lynwood, take the 105 to the 710 north, then exit at Florence Ave. Turn right (east) on Florence Ave; our office is approximately one mile on the right side, just past Brookshire Ave. This route stays on the freeway for most of the trip and is the most consistent in time. Average: 14 to 16 minutes.
Route 2 via Imperial Hwy east (surface streets): From the Plaza Mexico shopping center area on Long Beach Blvd, take Imperial Hwy east toward Lynwood Road. Continue east past the Lynwood city boundary into Downey; Imperial Hwy becomes Firestone Blvd just past the city line. Turn left on Lakewood Blvd north, then left on Florence Ave west. Our office is on the left. This route passes through the residential heart of both cities and is preferred by patients who dislike freeway driving. Average: 16 to 19 minutes.
From the St. Francis Medical Center area: If you are coming from the hospital campus on East Imperial Hwy, head east on Imperial Hwy past Long Beach Blvd, then take the 105 to the 710 north. Exit Florence Ave east. Total drive is about 13 to 15 minutes from the hospital parking structure. Many of our St. Francis patients stop by before or after their shift.
Parking at our office: We have a 30-space parking lot behind the building, accessed from the alley off Brookshire Ave. No street parking is required. The lot has two ADA-compliant spaces directly adjacent to the suite entrance, which is useful for patients who receive IV sedation and need close curb access when a family member picks them up.

How far is 5D Smiles from Lynwood?

Dr. Henry Qiu measures your exact bone volume with a 3D CBCT scan at your consultation, and when the bone is too thin or too short, options like particulate grafts, block grafts, sinus lifts, or ridge expansion can rebuild it, usually adding one to six months to your timeline. Most patients who were told no elsewhere are candidates again after this step.
What happens at the first visit, and what does it cost?
Your first visit includes a 3D CBCT scan, a full candidacy review, and a written price quote, at no cost and with no deposit required. Dr. Henry Qiu conducts the consultation himself rather than handing it off to an associate, and the visit runs about 45 minutes.
What's actually covered under the 10-year warranty?
The warranty covers bone integration, peri-implantitis, and the surgery, parts, and lab work needed to redo a failed implant, for patients who keep up twice-yearly cleanings at the practice. Patients who get cleanings elsewhere are covered for 3 years under the same terms. Porcelain crowns are covered under both tiers. This isn't a guarantee of outcome, and the full written terms are handed over at your consultation.
Is the procedure painful?
Most patients tell us it was less uncomfortable than they expected walking in. We offer several sedation options, including IV sedation, and Dr. Henry Qiu personally manages your follow-up care rather than routing you through a call center.
