Dr. Henry Qiu, DDS is a UCLA-trained dental implant dentist and founder of 5D Smiles in Downey, CA. He has personally placed 2,000+ implants since 2010, maintains membership in the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), and is the only doctor who performs every consult, surgery, and restoration at 5D Smiles. He graduated magna cum laude from UC Davis before earning his DDS at UCLA, and he and his entire Downey team are Spanish-speaking.

Dr. Qiu graduated magna cum laude from UC Davis, then earned his DDS at UCLA School of Dentistry, where he trained under leading clinicians and got obsessed with the details that make a result both beautiful and functional. He grew up the son of a baker and painter father and a cook and tailor mother, shaping dough figurines and playing piano and violin as a kid, which is where the still, precise hands come from. He developed the Vampire Implants™ protocol (platelet-rich plasma plus UV-activated titanium) for faster, more reliable bone integration, has placed more than 2,000 implants since 2010, and is a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
Why I take the hard cases
Built for the patients everyone else turned away.
Dr. Qiu's own parents are diabetic, and an uncle lost all his teeth as a smoker and was turned away everywhere he went. That is why he obsessed over why implants fail in diabetics and smokers, the bone and the blood supply, and how to make them succeed anyway, slowly and on the patient's terms. His own family were Chinese immigrants who got scammed by cheap dentistry that had to be redone, so he built 5D Smiles on one rule: good dentistry is dentistry you never have to redo. And because he was once a kid being told 'almost done' while it still hurt, nobody here is treated until they are completely numb.
A Downey practice that speaks your language
Every person on the team speaks Spanish.
5D Smiles is a community practice in Downey, and a rare one where every single team member speaks Spanish. Dr. Qiu studied Spanish for five years and often speaks it with patients directly.
