Dental Implants for Seniors: Cost, Downey, CA
What implants really cost
on a fixed income.
Straight talk about the money: my price is the same at 80 as it is at 40, a single tooth from $3,500, a full arch from $20,000. Medicare won’t cover most of it, so qualified patients finance the rest.

Dental implants for seniors cost the same as for anyone: single tooth from $3,500, full-arch All-on-6 from $20,000 per arch ($40,000 dual-arch), all-inclusive, with no add-ons. Original Medicare does not cover routine implants, though some Medicare Advantage plans offset a portion. At 5D Smiles in Downey, CA, qualified patients finance up to $60,000 at 0% APR, with low- or no-interest asset-secured options for larger cases. Placed personally by UCLA-trained Dr. Henry Qiu using the Vampire Implants™ Protocol, backed by an up-to-10-year biological warranty.
What you'll actually pay
The price doesn't go up because you're older. Here's the number.
A single tooth starts at $3,500. A full-arch All-on-6 starts at $20,000 an arch, $40,000 for the whole mouth, and a snap-in implant overdenture runs roughly $8,000 to $12,000 per arch. That's all-inclusive, the 3D scan, IV sedation, any bone graft, the final zirconia, and the Vampire Implants™ Protocol are in the number, not billed back later. Your written quote at the consult is your final price.
This page is about the money. If you’re first wondering whether you even qualify at your age, I answer that in full on whether age is a barrier to dental implants. The short version is that bone and controlled health decide it, not your birthday. On cost, the two questions I hear most from older patients are whether Medicare helps and how to handle the balance on a fixed income. So I’ll be direct about what Medicare does and doesn’t cover and walk through the financing options for qualified patients. The pricing here is the same at any age; for the case-by-case number behind it, see what a dental implant costs, and if a full denture is what you’re replacing, the full breakdown of what a full-arch case costs goes deeper on the per-arch math.
Why a $10,000 implant ad is a fantasy
Older patients ask me this a lot: why isn’t it cheaper? The honest answer is that the UV-activated implants I use cost about $400 each before any of the surgery, sedation, or bone work, so a $10,000 full arch can only happen with roughly $100 implants, no titanium bar, and no real aesthetics, usually by cramming three or four cases into a day. I won’t do that. Every placement gets the Vampire Implants™ Protocol, your own platelet-rich plasma concentrated at the site, which heals faster and matters even more when you’re managing thinner bone or other conditions. That activation takes time, and time is part of what you’re paying for. With implants, you get what you pay for.
Most implant failures are because of poor healing.
I built the Vampire Implants™ Protocol by combining Dr. Ogawa's UCLA UV-activation research with platelet-rich plasma into one protocol. That's why diabetics, smokers, and elderly patients heal like everyone else here.

UV-treated vs untreated implant integration (Ogawa et al., UCLA School of Dentistry).

Medicare & financing on a fixed income
Medicare won't cover most of it. Here's how my patients fund the rest.
Let me set expectations honestly. Original Medicare excludes routine dental implants, and most Medicare Advantage dental allowances offset only a small slice of a full case, your consultation includes a benefits check so you see your exact number before you commit, not after.
For the balance, there are two doors. The first is a 0% APR plan up to $60,000 with a soft credit pull, often $179 to $479 a month. The second is the one most practices can’t offer: if you have home equity, stocks, or a 401k, we work with a CFA partner to arrange low- or no-interest financing secured against those assets through a partner bank, on a large case that can roughly halve the monthly payment, because you’re paying closer to principal. It’s an option for those who qualify, not a guarantee of approval or a particular rate, and what you qualify for is decided when you apply. The full menu lives on dental implant financing options, and I go deeper on Medicare and Medicare Advantage coverage if that’s your main question. If a bone-density medication is part of your picture, the cost of any grafting is folded into your quote too, I cover that on implants with osteoporosis or bisphosphonates.

Smiles rebuilt in Downey
Every smile below was rebuilt by Dr. Henry Qiu personally, start to finish, at our Downey, CA surgical suite.
The real cost is whether it lasts
The cheapest implant is rarely the cheapest decision, especially later in life.
Here's the math I walk older patients through. The real cost of an implant isn't the sticker price; it's longevity. One that lasts ten years can cost you four to five times more than one that lasts decades, once you count the redo, and if an implant fails you pay roughly three times the original to rebuild it. The deepest cost is lost bone, sometimes irrecoverable. Done right, implants are far more cost-effective, not less.
A case I rebuilt
A patient came to me after a cheaper full arch from elsewhere had failed, the implants came out, and a lot of bone had gone with them. Rebuilding it meant a bone graft, months to heal, a sinus lift, and about eight months in dentures before the new implants were back, close to a 50% increase over the cost of doing it right the first time. Revisions are simply harder, and the body recovers more slowly the older you are. That’s the version of “saving money” I want every older patient to avoid.
What implants cost, and what Medicare really pays
“Patients on a fixed income deserve the honest number, not a teaser. The cheaper it looks, the more expensive it usually works out, because you redo it, and a redo later in life is far harder. So I’d rather give you one all-inclusive price, six implants over a titanium bar, and a warranty I stand behind. Most practices won’t talk this plainly about money, they just get it done.”
Here’s the coverage reality in plain terms. The official Medicare dental-services policy (CMS) states that Original Medicare doesn’t cover most dental care, including routine implants. A 2024 KFF analysis of Medicare dental coverage found that even where a Medicare Advantage plan includes dental, the benefit is typically capped at a few thousand dollars a year, enough to offset a portion of a case, not fund a full arch. And national fee data from the ADA Health Policy Institute fee survey shows a single implant, abutment, and crown commonly totals several thousand dollars before any grafting, which is exactly why our all-inclusive single-tooth price starts at $3,500 and why financing matters.
